I use the ISO weeks from Monday to Monday, so ISO Week 2026-W34 is the week of 2026-08-17/2026-08-23.

Focus Quest of the Week

Okay people, let’s all dial back our expectation after that section heading, shall we?

After putting it off for quite some time, I finally went to the optometrist! A brand new pair of glasses for reading & computering & whatever else is closer than my fingertips-ing is now on the way, and hopefully will be in my life within a couple of weeks.

I may even opt for another pair of all-purpose frames in the next few months, after adjusting to these. We shall see!

A Critical Conversation on AI in Librarianship

The delightful & insightful “Critical Conversation on AI in Librarianship” panel, hosted by Sophie from Library Juice Press, deserves its own post. I’ll aim to do it justice in the next couple of weeks.

In the meantime, it’s well worth watching the recording and perusing the shared resources!

Magic the Gathering, A Review

If I’ve ever read a description of certain aspects of experiencing ADHD or generalized anxiety that’s as insightful as “Magic the Gathering, A Review”’s refrain of “Hon. Stop.” and “…sometimes I can feel my hands wishing for cards”, I certainly cannot recall it while I type up this note. I haven’t played Magic since high school, but this “review” isn’t so much about the game as about the author’s reasons for finding it compelling.

Give the Drummer Some

The URL slug for “Give the Drummer Some” reads “what drum machines can teach us about artificial intelligence”, and that’s a very apt summary of the piece. If you’ve ever wanted to read detailed descriptions / close readings of drumming, go ahead and give it a click.

TWI(R)L

This week I (re)learned that Kagi Small Web lists this site.

It’s a fun way to visit a random blog or site!

Site Refinements of the Week

I added a Contact page a few weeks ago, and this week I decided to make it more prominent. So I’ve added links to it in the site footer and at the end of most blog posts and pages.

I also fixed the colors—and particularly the color contrast—of some of the notices on pages, such as the one at the beginning of Rewind and Weekly Assemblage posts.

Kudos
